This was an exercise to design a poster for the quintessential noir film “Out of the Past”. This poster was designed as a concept sell by placing the submachine gun and fedora instead of a rifle and helmet in order to speak to the film's plot about gangsters. This juxtaposition was intended to reference how a soldier’s grave in WWII would be marked if they died in combat overseas.
